Ravana Ella is one of the widest and most famous waterfalls in Sri Lanka, located in the mountain town of Ella within the Badulla District. Standing approximately 25 meters (82 ft) tall, it is a key landmark nestled within the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary.

Mythology: Named after the legendary King Ravana from the Indian epic Ramayana. It is believed that Ravana kidnapped Princess Sita and hid her in the Ravana Cave, located about 1,370m above sea level behind the falls.

Appearance: During the rainy season, the cascading water is said to resemble an Areca flower with withering petals.

Ceylon Tea Plantations define the iconic "Hill Country" of Sri Lanka, covering roughly 4% of the island's land area.

The flavor, color, and aroma of Ceylon Tea vary significantly based on the "terroir"—the specific elevation and climate of the region where it is grown

The island is the world's largest producer of orthodox (traditional) tea, with the name "Ceylon Tea" remaining a global benchmark for quality.

Little Adam's Peak (locally called "Punchi Sri Pada") is Ella's most popular hike, offering spectacular panoramic views without the grueling effort of its namesake, the "Big" Adam's Peak.

The Hike: A relatively easy 45-minute to 1-hour walk. [1, 3] The first section is a gentle incline through lush tea plantations, while the final stretch involves concrete steps leading to the summit.

The View: From the top, you get a 360-degree view of the Ella Gap, the massive Ella Rock opposite you, and the cascading Ravana Falls in the distance.

The Peaks: There are actually three peaks connected by a narrow ridge. Most visitors stop at the first, but you can hike further along the ridge for a bit more adventure and fewer crowds.
